Among the selected finalists from 22 countries who will board the nuclear icebreaker “50 Years of Victory” in August and head toward the North Pole is the minor V.F., who also becomes the first high school student from Serbia on this type of Arctic scientific expedition.

To enter the finals, students aged 14 to 16 had to pass a rigorous three-phase selection process that began back in May. The process included an eliminatory science quiz covering natural sciences and nuclear energy, a series of expert webinars on “Rosatom” technologies, as well as a final creative work on the topic of the impact of nuclear technologies on the modern world. The entries were evaluated by an international jury composed of officials from the Russian Ministry of Education, researchers from the Arctic Institute, and operational officers from nuclear icebreakers.

“For me, this is a great joy and an important step forward. I am proud to be able to represent Serbia at such a major international event,” the Serbian high school student stated regarding this success.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="715" height="432" src="https://nuklearnaperspektiva.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/WhatsApp-Image-2026-07-08-at-16.58.41.2.jpeg" alt="Ledolomac znanja. This maritime route represents the shortest connection between Europe and Asia, and Moscow views it as a critical geo-economic corridor whose control depends entirely on advanced nuclear icebreaker technology.

The Russian Federation is currently the only country in the world that possesses an operational fleet of civil nuclear icebreakers, managed by the enterprise “Atomflot,” a subsidiary of the “Rosatom” corporation, and projects like the “Icebreaker of Knowledge” are not merely philanthropic popularizations of science, but represent a well-designed strategy to attract future human resources and create positive public opinion in partner countries (such as India, China, Brazil, Egypt, and South Africa).

Source: Rosatom

S.A.

A student from Serbia has secured a place among the winners of the seventh season of the international project “Icebreaker

[19
38,46
post-3381","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-vesti","tag-rosatom","tag-srbija
["GET
