Foto: Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) &#8211; Government of India<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Odobrenje regulatora usledilo je nakon zavr\u0161etka iskopavanja i bezbednosnih provera temelja za nuklearne i pomo\u0107ne zgrade, a va\u017ei\u0107e pet godina, do februara 2031. Izgradnja ovih jedinica deo je \u0161ireg plana Indije o \u201efleet mode\u201c izgradnji deset identi\u010dnih reaktora ovog tipa \u0161irom zemlje. Glavni ugovor za izgradnju, vredan oko 1,5 milijardi dolara, poveren je kompaniji Megha Engineering &amp; Infrastructure Ltd, \u0161to je do sada najve\u0107a pojedina\u010dna narud\u017ebina indijske korporacije NPCIL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indija trenutno ubrzano \u0161iri svoje nuklearne kapacitete sa ciljem da do 2047. godine dostigne 100 gigavata instalisane snage. Elektrana Kaiga ve\u0107 poseduje \u010detiri operativne jedinice manjeg kapaciteta (po 202 megavata), dok se novi reaktori od 700 megavata oslanjaju na proverenu tehnologiju koja je ve\u0107 u komercijalnoj upotrebi u postrojenjima Kakrapar i Rajasthan.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>U pitanju je evolucija kanadskih CANDU reaktora koji za moderaciju koriste te\u0161ku vodu te zbog toga imaju i odli\u010dnu neutronsku ekonomiju pa kao gorivo mogu koristiti prirodni uranijum.
