Radi u brzom spektru \u2013 neutroni se ne moderiraju \u2013 pa mo\u017ee da koristi \u0161iri spektar goriva. Pored toga, usled fizi\u010dkih karakteristika natrijuma koji se koristi za hla\u0111enje, trebalo bi da bude kadar i za termalno skladi\u0161tenje energije, \u0161to bi reaktoru omogu\u0107ilo smanjenjivanje i pove\u0107avanje snage bez gubitka efikasnosti, \u0161to predstavlja jedan od problema sa kojima se suo\u010davaju standardni dizajni reaktora koji optimalnu efikasnost imaju u relativno uskom opsegu snage rada. Zahvaljuju\u0107i ovomkapacitetu za skladi\u0161tenjem termalne energije, reaktor mo\u017ee privremeno podi\u0107i snagu na 500 megavata \u0161to omogu\u0107ava reaktoru da prati dnevne promene u potro\u0161nji i da se integri\u0161e sa nestabilnim izvorima poput vetra i sunca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ulazak TerraPower-a u britanski GDA proces (gde se ve\u0107 nalaze Rolls-Royce, Holtec i GE Hitachi) potvr\u0111uje da Britanija postaje globalni centar za testiranje malih modularnih reaktora (SMR).
