Nikakav problem. Pickering A. Foto: Wikimdia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Jedinica 4 bila je poslednji od \u010detiri bloka koji se nalazio u upotrebi na ovoj lokaciji. U pitanju su bili reaktori CANDU dizajna snage po 500 megavata. Reaktori ovog dizajna ne\u0161to su druga\u010diji od trenutno naj\u010de\u0161\u0107eg dizajna reaktora u svetu &#8211; reaktora sa lakom vodom pod pritiskom. CANDU reaktori, naime, kao moderator koriste te\u0161ku vodu, \u0161to \u010dini neutronsku ekonomiju znatno boljom, pa CANDU reaktori kao gorivo tro\u0161e prirodni (neoboga\u0107eni) uranijum. Pored toga, u reaktorima ovog dizajna punjenje goriva mo\u017ee da se obavlja bez zaustavljanja rada reaktora, \u0161to dodatno pojeftinjuje proizvodnju elektri\u010dne energije. Reaktori ovog dizajna se nalaze i u na\u0161em kom\u0161iluku: rumunski reaktori su upravo ovog dizajna.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ina\u010de, sve reaktorske jedinice ove elektrane sa radom su po\u010dele sedamdesetih godina. Blokovi 2 i 3 su penzionisani devedesetih, ali su blokovi 1 i 4 renovirani kako bi se produ\u017eio njihov \u017eivotni vek, pa je blok 4 vra\u0107en u rad 2003. godine a blok 1 2005. godine.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OPG (Ontario Power Generation) planira renoviranje jedinica 5, 6, 7 i 8 &#8211; Pickering B &#8211; po\u010dev od 2026. godine sa ciljem da obnovljeni reaktori ponovo budu u funkciji do sredine 2030-ih.
